Train Theme Party

In my last post I showed an adorable little picture of my crochet monster for Jameson's 2nd Birthday party.  Well, this is what I get for getting an early start to my party planning.  Jameson is obsessed with trains now!  So what does a good mommy do (or at least this mommy)?  Scraps all her hard work and starts over.  So here I am, starting from scratch.  This time I started with the invitation.  All the cute decorations will follow.

I had the idea to make the invitation into an activity.  So I spent hours searching online trying to find just the right idea.  Finally I found the folding train idea and I customized it to fit my needs.  It turned out so much better than I ever expected.  The inside of the card is the folding train and if you bring it with you you get a prize.

I am beyond happy with how it turned out!  So what do you think?

Little Crochet Monster

I have decided for Jameson's 2nd birthday to do a Monster theme.  I know, I know, you are thinking I am crazy because his birthday is still a few months away but I may as well get an early start.  Hopefully by getting an early start I won't be rushing around and stressed out come January.

Onto my first project...crochet monster beanie babies for a bean bag toss game.  I made my first one this weekend and it turned out pretty well.  I will be making a few changes to the next one but it will be mostly the same.

I got the idea from another blog and am modifying it to fit my needs.

Wild Tropics Makeup

I was shopping at Victoria's Secret when I saw the advertisement for their Wild Tropics makeup collection.  I really liked the look and decided to snap a picture of the ad to take and try out for myself.  I did this tutorial a few months ago but just haven't had the time to edit the pictures.

What I used

1: Clinique Touch Tints
2, 3, 4, 5: Avon Eyes hadow
7,6: Mark Eyeliner duo
Mascara: Avon Lash Extend

Step 1: Apply #1 over entire eye lid from lash to brow.  This adds shimmer and works as an eye shadow base to make your eye shadow last longer.  Apply #2 over the top of #1 from lash line to brown.  I always apply a light shade first because it helps with blending the dark shades later.

Step 2: Apply #4 to outer corner of eyein a V shape, along lash line and in the crease.  Fill in the small part of the V.

Step 3:  Using #3 blend #4 over the lid.  Also apply #3 to the inner corner and under the bottom lash line.

Step 4: Apply #5 along the upper and lower lash lines concentrating on the outer corner.

Step 5: Apply eyeliner #7 outer 2/3 of the lash line and #6 along inner 1/3 of lash line.  Follow with your favorite mascara.

18 Months of Wonder

Hard to believe this was me 18 months ago holding my baby boy for the first time.

Now my life revolves around that little boy, I live for him.  He needs me like no one has ever need me and I am blessed.  He isn't much of a cuddler but he loves to give kisses and be the center of attention.  I love nothing more than the sound of his voice saying "Mama" and him reaching up to me.

I look at him and he smiles while I wonder what I did in this life to deserve something so wonderful.  I treasure our time together.  Being a mother is the most difficult and most rewarding experience.

Jameson turned 18 months on July 4, 2011.  We had fun playing outside with the snappers (fireworks that you throw and they make a loud noise).  Poor little man fell and hit scraped up his chin pretty bad but Mama was there to make it all better.

He had has 18 month well visit the next day weighing 21 lbs 1.5 oz (2%) and height of 32.25 inches (50%).  He is tall and skinny!

I'm here!

Wow the last couple months have been hectic for me with weddings, anniversary's, the fashion show, work and other projects.  I just have had no time to blog and I am really starting to miss it.  I have even done a couple make-up tutorials but had no time to edit the pictures.

The fashion show for Models on a Mission was a huge success raising over $5,500 for Joplin.  My friend Teisha is continuing Models on a Mission so be on the look out for new events.

The wedding I am helping to plan is really coming together and I can't wait to post pictures afterwards!  I completed designing the invitations, making the flowers for the flower girls, and now we are working on decorations.  It is going to look amazing.

My grandparents celebrated 50 wonderful years together.  Their party was great and I am so grateful I was able to share the day with them.  Jameson tried to steal the show when he started blowing kisses to the crowd and waving as they introduced us.

Miss me??

Well if you didn't, you should have!!  After my last disastrous attempt at a blog I just couldn't bring myself to do another one but I think I am finally over it.  So I am back!

So what have I been up to in the last couple weeks?

Jameson will hand me camera and say "Cheese" when he wants his picture taken now :)

Giant moth we found in the yard while mowing.  It had a 6" wing span!

My handsome men playing on Zack's old rocking horse.

Jameson taking Chloe for a walk.

This weekend I flew out to Colorado to visit my sister-in-law and help out with wedding planning.  We were able to get a lot done in the short weekend: invitations, RSVP cards, flower girl flowers, centerpieces, reception floor plan and lots of other little details are all taken care of now.  Hopefully I was able to calm some of her nerves but I wasn't sure I was ever going to make it home.  My flight was supposed to take off at 7:25pm last night, after a 30 minute delay we got on the plane and headed out to the runway.  I closed my eyes and then the plane came to a stop so I opened my eyes and we had pulled back up to the gate.  I guess the sensor for one of the deicer's wasn't working so they had maintenance come take a look.  After another 30 minutes they told us that they could not fix the sensor so we were going to have to get off the plane and switch to another one.  A pain in the rear but not a huge deal until they told us the other plane wouldn't arrive in Denver for an hour and a half.  So we get off the plane and it was late enough at this point that all of the food vender's were closing and I had no dinner.  So tired, hungry and cranky me sat and waited patiently.  Finally the other plane arrived and I made it home at 2am.  It was a long night but I did have a good time this weekend.  I got lots of snuggles and smiles from Jameson this morning so that made it all better.

I hope you all haven't given up on me yet!

False Lashes

I was asked to do a tutorial on how to apply false eyelashes.  Which I just completed and when I went to download my pictures all but 2 of them are blurry and would be pointless to post.  I'm too frustrated to do it again so I posted one of the 2 pictures that turned out and I went to YouTube and found a nice video for you.I probably should have done a video myself instead of the pictures but I was told pictures were easier to follow.

So the basic steps are:
1) Apply your all your eyeshadow, liner and mascara before applying the lashes.
2) Hold up the lashes to your eye and check the length.  You may need to trim the lashes to fit your eye.
3) Apply lash glue across the lashes and let it dry for a minute until it becomes tacky.
4) Apply lash to top of lashes starting at the center then pressing down the ends.

It is not an easy thing to do and can be frustrating at first.  It is much easier to apply them on someone else.  Good luck!!

Just when you think it can't get any worse...

Count your blessings because it can get worse.  After my deplorable morning I was just ready to go home and hug my little boy.  I just kept thinking it can't get any worse until I received a text this afternoon that my grandfather was admitted to the hospital for a heart attack.  He is stable now but we don't know the extent of the problem yet. I don't trust the hospital he is in at all so if you would all be kind enough to say an extra prayer for him I would be grateful.

Bad Days

Why is it when your day starts off bad more than likely that will be the tone of your whole day?  Why don't things get better?  It is only 11am and I have had more bad today than I care to have in a whole month!  The problem is that this is a public blog that anyone can read so I have to be selective in what I actually write/vent about.  So many things to say yet so little I can actually say without possible repercussions.

Dear Idiot,

  • You are not above me.
  • Your shit does stink
  • Don't complain about it when you asked for it.
  • If you don't like it stop hiding it and say something!
  • You were better off  without that loser.
  • You are rude.
  • You are a pig, get it together!
  • Stop talking about it and just do it.

Sincerely,

Jameson's Early Mother's Day Gift

As you probably remember from an earlier post Jameson has been a bit stingy with the "Mama's".  You tell him to say Mama and he says Dada or No.  He refuses to say it!  It is Dada this and Dada that and I am so tired hearing about Dada.

Last night we were sitting in the living room and Jameson walked straight up to me and said "Mama" to get my attention!  I screamed, nearly started crying and was in shock.  Zack was sitting right there and heard it too so there will be no denying that he actually said it!  Of course he wouldn't repeat it but it was a good start right??

My little ladies man needs to give some love to his mama before he starts handing anymore out like he did this weekend!

Crafty Mother's Day Gift

I received an early Mother's Day gift this weekend from one of my best friends and I just had to share it.  I can never have too many photos of Jameson on my desk so I brought it to work to admire.

Made of scrapbooking materials this box contains memories of Jameson's first year through pictures and words.

Remove the lid and the box collapses into a photo album.

I was just blown away by the amount of time she spent to make something so beautiful for me.  She is truly a great friend and this is the best Mother's Day gift I could have asked for!

Oh and she just sent me this picture of her daughter and Jameson this weekend!  I had to share :)

A Royal Makeover

Sick of the royal wedding yet?  Well hang in there because I have a royal makeup tutorial for you today.  Kate looked stunning with her simple wedding day makeup and now you can do the look on your own.  Note: I didn't realize how bad I needed to pluck my eyebrows so please ignore the strays ;)

What I used:
Eye 1: Clinique Touch Tint for Eyes in Sable Shimmer
Eye 2: Mark Eye Shadow in Nomadic
Eye 3: Mark Eye Shadow in Gioia
Eyeliner: Avon Glimmersticks in Blackest Black
Mascara: Avon SuperExtend Mascara in Black
Blush: Clinique Rich Texture Blush in Rich Currant
Lip 1: MAC Select cover-up
Lip 2: Lancome Lip Dimension in Pure
Lip 3: Mark Glow Baby Glow Luxe Lip Gloss in Flirty Luxe

Step 1: Apply Eyeshadow #1 on eyelid from lash line blending up into the crease.  This cream eyeshadow acts as a base to help hold your eyeshadow in place and add some shimmer.

Step 2: Apply Eyeshadow #2 across the eyelid and under the brow.

Step 3: Apply Eyeshadow #3 in the crease of your eye.

Step 4:  Using a small amount of Eyeshadow #2 blend Eyeshadow #2.  Also apply a Eyeshadow #2 into the inner corner of the eye (I forgot to show this on the graphic.)

Step 5:  This is probably the most important step to achieving Kate's wedding look.  Apply eyeliner all around the eye making the liner thicker at the outer corner of the eye and tapering to the inner corner.  If you have difficulties applying  eyeliner the simplest way is to to your best and then use a Q-Tip and smudge it to where you want it.

Step 6: Curl your lashes then apply mascara to upper and lower lashes.

Step 7: Apply blush from the apple of your cheek back towards the ear.  Use a face powder to blend if it appears to bold.

Step 8: My lips had a bit too much natural color to achieve this look so I started by applying some concealer over my lips.  Then I applied Lipstick #1 for the color and then Lipgloss #3 just to the center of the lip for some shine.
